BENGAL
This wonderful English Bulldog is so pregnant that you cannot tell that she is emaciated until you look at her spine sticking out on top. She is all babies. She was picked up as a stray by Animal Control in DeKalb County, GA and brought to the shelter there. She was set to be euthanized because no one had stepped up for her. We were picking up another abuse case there and realized how emaciated this sweet dog is and grabbed her.
Everyone that helped with her transport was prepared for her to have her puppies in their car. She didn’t. She went straight to the Emergency Vet in Columbia and spent the night there so we could get bloodwork and x-rays to see what we were dealing with since she is so thin. Bloodwork came back that she is very anemic, high heartworm positive and is carrying 6-9 puppies according to the x-ray. We prefer puppies not being born in shelters or hospitals because of all the diseases they can get so I picked her up the next morning. We got her home to her new foster family and after massaging her for 12 solid hours to get her relaxed, she gave birth to 9 beautiful puppies. She had a puppy every hour to hour and a half. She was exhausted and I was beyond exhausted. We lost one pup but all the others are doing great. She is a fabulous dog that just loves her little babies. The problem we are having now is putting weight on her so she will have enough milk for her new big family.
Once the puppies are big enough, she will be treated for heartworms and any other medical problems she has. The little pups have all been started on their series of vaccinations. We have a long way to go with this new family but are glad the worst is over for this Mom. Because of the condition she was in, she and the babies could have all died.
Please help us,
help her by donating.

Lily, Abigail, and Blue were supposed to go home after being boarded at the vet’s for the holidays. But all that changed when Daddy contracted pneumonia and had to go into a nursing home.
These three babies are the most friendly, loving, and affectionate friends anyone could ever want. They follow you around, looking up with adoring, dewy eyes, asking to be petted and loved. These sweeties deserve to live the rest of their lives with a family who will take great care of them.
For a short time more, they can stay at the vet’s, but the day is soon coming when they’ll have to be taken to animal control. The family just cannot keep them in boarding much longer.
