ASPCA Assists Investigation of Alleged Cockfighting Operation by Sherwin

“On September 7, in what is being described as one of the largest cockfighting busts in Florida history, the ASPCA assisted with the removal of more than 600 fighting roosters, hens and chicks from two separate properties in Fort Myers. At the request of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County Domestic Animal Services, the ASPCA was on hand to assist with the removal and sheltering of the birds, who were voluntarily relinquished by their owners, and to lead the collection of forensic evidence for the investigation of a criminal case.”

“Animal law is hot, as we’ve discussed in past posts and stories. A new case of (not-for-the-squeamish) animal abuse in a lab uncovered by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) stands to validate the trend.”

Subject: Rescue Only Casper at HCACC

Pitbulls can be released to Georgia Dept of Ag licensed rescue only.

Please understand this policy protects the dogs as much as the community.  After years of watching Pitbulls come back as abuse and neglect cases, or worse, as corpses this restriction [though it is a blanket policy] is really all a county run shelter with no application or screening process can enact.  Please do not call and harass the staff about policy, you will not change anything and more dogs will die.

Casper is a fabulous young dog who loves everyone and really deserves a second chance at a forever home.  Before we watch his life end here we had to try.  Please exhaust all your resources and try to help Casper.

So many Pitbulls lose their lives in shelters, when will people get it?  Spay neuter is the only way we can prevent the senseless death but until then please help us save those who really have a shot at being fabulous companions.

If you are out of state please find an in state licensed rescue to assist you, the shelter does not offer vetting, boarding, or transport services.

We are very rescue friendly and are more than happy to work with any rescue group as long as the group has a valid Georgia Department of Agriculture license! Any rescue group, whether in or out of state, that takes pets from Georgia shelters, is required, by Georgia law, to have a rescue license issued by the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Animal Protection Division. Cats =) by Sherwin

Hello,

My name is Biance Crowder, I am writing to you today desperately seeking help. Back in the spring of this year my neighbor lost her home, unable to provide for herself she up and moved away. We found out in June was that she had left 3 of her cats outside to fend for themselves.  A “friend was coming to feed the cats, but only showed up every 2-3 weeks, and finally has stopped coming all together.

Being very concerned my family started taking over water and food throughout the time that the neighbor had been gone. Early Tuesday morning a real estate agent was at the house unlocking the home to see if everything had been cleared out as was directed. Upon entry to the house it was discovered by myself, the Realtor, and another concerned neighbor 3 more cats who had been indoors since the spring. Of the three indoor cats 2 look to be full blooded Himalayan/Ragdoll/ or Siamese. My vet believes that the 3rd cat is a mix of Siamese and Calico.  A large cat food bag lay on the kitchen floor and there was a couple of water bowls that had been left. Immediately calls were placed to the misplaced homeowner who stated that she had no choice and that she would not be coming back for her cats. When the house was to be foreclosed on the cats would be taken and euthanized.

These are the sweetest, most loving cats. They just purr and climb all over you in search for attention. Unfortunately I have 6 rescues at my home and I am not able to take them in. The Realtor has agreed to allow the cats to stay at the house until September 26 when the house goes on auction. I have taken the large white cat to my vet today(Gwinnett Animal Clinic) due to an abscessed animal bite on her rear flank. She has been started on clavimox. Other than the injury and some gum inflammation she looks good. I did have her combo tested where she came up negative For FeLV/FIV. My family and I are willing to pay for the cats vet visit, shots, food, litter and litter box if someone can please take them and either foster them or adopt them.

The 3 indoor cats I don’t know much about at all other than they are super sweet and very loving, the outdoor cats I have gotten to know very well over the summer. I believe that the outdoor cats were indoor/outdoor who were placed outdoors for good when the neighbor left. The cats are all in good condition. They have been being fed (we and the Realtor have split this duty) and checked on many times daily. We can split the girls up if we can find fosters for some of them. There are two though that do stay together most of the time. In the pictures you will see a large cream colored cat (I gave her the name Gigi) and a small grey/calico (I gave her the name Callie). They stay together all the time.

All the cats are female and all have scars on their abdomens from being fixed (see more info at bottom of email). If you can help, know anyone who can help or can lead me to anyone who can help please let me know. I can be reached at home 770-932-2780, or via cell 757-620-9856 or email. You can also reach my mother Dion Crowder 770-932-2780 home 770-402-2779 cell. Thank you for your help. May God Bless!!!

PLEASE CROSSPOST TO POSSIBLY FIND OWNER OR A NEW OWNER FOR THIS POOR BOY!

-

Date: Saturday, September 4, 2010, 10:42 AM

Please forward this to anyone having dogs in the Rockdale County GA area. This Akita was found lying exhausted in the middle of the highway. His feet are worn bloody from walking. He is thought to be deaf. He is, however, neutered and in good weight. He is brindle and white. Someone out there knows this dog. Please, anyone in the Conyers, Atlanta, or surrounding areas take a really, really close look. Also, we are trying to reach Michael Holland in Conyers to see if he knows this boy. Unable to find a phone # or email. Hope the pic comes thru. If not, he’s on Petfinder at Rockdale Animal Control.

PLEASE CROSSPOST TO SEE IF WE CAN FIND HELP FOR THIS POOR SWEET DOG!!

contact:   lexie.thibeau@cox.net

From: kj long <chirokimmyj@hotmail.com>

Bonnie, this dog is at our friends house in Florida.  he got her from a working associate of his wife’s and the dog has been in 3 homes.  I guess after 6 months they are giving up on her, she has severe storm anxiety.  Know anyone who would give her a good home and work with this?  She is supposedly lab and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix and she is fairly active and young and loves people but tries to rip off the door mouldings and get outside during storms (and her owners cant be with her 24/7 and says she is not good for long periods in a crate during storms either).  Let me know if someone has interest. Kim
