Please crosspost for this little Chihuahua named Lil Bit who is in dire need of rescue. Please forward to rescues and friends and ask them to crosspost also.
If you can help, contact Maureen below at wingmasterfcr@yahoo.com or call the shelter at 706-795-2868 and ask for Tanya. Many thanks!
From Maureen:
I do some volunteer web work for the Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter www.moaspets.org <http://www.moaspets.org/> in Danielsville, GA (near Commerce and Athens). They get some great dogs and are rescue-friendly, but not many rescue groups help out as they are a bit of a drive. Right now they have a sweet, friendly middle-aged Chihuahua called Lil Bit who really deserves to get out of there. The shelter isvery full and they are having to euthanize. If you know anyone that might be able to pull her, call Tanya at the shelter at 706-795-2868. Thanks!

Chihuahua [Mix]
Small Baby Female Dog Pet ID: 10/22-5224~5225
More About Liam&Lilly
Liam and Lilly are totally adorable brother and sister litter mates that appear to be some sort of Chihuahua mixes. They are very dependent on one another, shy, scared, and sweeter than tea in Georgia ! The babies are getting a late start on Petfinder since they had names on them and we felt certain the people would come back for their adoption holds but after waiting 4 days we give up. The babies are now in dire need of a loving home. Liam and Lilly are in a puppy pen in our lobby since the kennel is so scary. Please hurry and save them, we cannot hold them up front very long. This is Harley. He’s a little Chihuahua with possibly some miniature
pinscher about 4-5 years old. His owner babysat for Lisa who is temporarily
caring for him. One day a few weeks ago the owner just tied him up to
Lisa’s front porch and left him. When Lisa called the owner, she just
laughed and sometimes won’t answer the phone!
Lisa has a young baby and another larger dog and is renting her home. The
homeowner says she can’t keep Harley unless she pays $300 deposit, which she
can’t afford to do. When she is at home she keeps him inside and tries to
hide him, but when she’s at work she cannot leave him in the house because
the owner stops over frequently to check when she’s not there to see if he
is in the house!
Today Harley is tied to the front porch and had no shelter during the rain
because Lisa didn’t think it was supposed to rain. I have taken over a
little carrier with towels in it for Harley to stay in to try to stay warm
and dry.
We desperately need to find a home for Harley. I can’t do it because we
have a cat and a larger dog and down-sized and don’t have room to keep him.
My critters wouldn’t be happy at all if I brought him home. But until we
have a home or a rescue to take Harley in, we need to see if we can find
someone who can take him in temporarily just to keep him indoors and warm
and dry!! Please crosspost locally to see if we can find someone to help
Harley out. Lisa only has a few days because the homeowner is insisting
that she take Harley to animal control!

My Name is Jane Wages and my dogs and I live in Loganville, GA, 6 miles
south of Hwy 316.
My female, Lucy, is maybe 2-3 yrs old, dark brown with some white. She
is up to date on shots but is not spayed and has had (1) litter of (4)
beautiful, smart pups. She was abandoned and living for weeks in a friend’s shed
while they were vacationing. As soon as she knows you will not hurt her, she
is sweet and affectionate but she has a Chihuahua’s temperament. She is
extremely smart and is easily trained.
My male dog, Linus, is 18 mos. old, neutered and up to date on shots.
He is very docile and loves everyone including other dogs and cats. His
color is light beige, he was born white. I have had him since he was 6 weeks
old, I got him as a companion to my female and they are very attached to each
other.
My Mother has terminal cancer and lives 2 hrs away. I am one of her
primary caregivers and cannot take my dogs with me. They need more love and
attention than I can give. Please help me if you can. Thank you so
much.

MISSY
Missy is a sweet two year old chihuahua that was hit by a car in Florence, SC. Animal Control in Florence picked her up and brought her into the shelter there. She has two fractures of the left femur and her right hip is dislocated. She cannot walk at all. She has recently had puppies and we do not know where the puppies are. She is in terrible pain and needs surgery to have a pin put in her leg to stabilize it and have her hip put back into place. She is as sweet as can be for a dog that is in this much pain. When you talk to her she will wag her tail for you even though you know it hurts.

Canine “CSI” Crucial in Charging Chihuahua Hoarder
Animal Legal Defense Fund Grant Allows for Necropsies of Chihuahuas Found in Michigan Man’s Freezer

Dearborn, Mich.– Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced today that Dearborn dog hoarder Kenneth Lang Jr is being charged with two counts of cruelty to 10 or more animals, after more than 100 live and approximately 150 dead Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes were removed from the filthy home this past July. The national non-profit Animal Legal Defense Fund provided a grant of $3500 to allow the Dearborn Police Department to conduct necropsies on 10 of the Chihuahuas whose bodies were removed from freezers on 56-year-old Lang’s property. ALDF offers grants for necropsies, DNA testing, and other forensic support nationwide to ensure that local law enforcement is able to collect the necessary evidence to establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in cases of criminal animal abuse.
Once relegated only to primetime dramas, sophisticated forensic techniques are increasingly being used to help prosecutors put together airtight cases against animal abusers. However, because such tests can be prohibitively expensive, abusers often walk free—even when the appearance of guilt seems obvious. Meanwhile, former prosecutors who now staff ALDF’s Criminal Justice Program train law enforcement around the country in animal abuse crime scene investigation, the use of cell phone data and fingerprint analysis in abuse cases, and in handling costly hoarding cases like the Lang case. In addition to the horrific animal cruelty involved, hoarding creates such highly unsanitary conditions that the properties of hoarders, contaminated with fecal matter and urine, are often condemned. In this case, Dearborn paid more than $37,000 to clean up Lang’s home, which has been deemed unfit for human habitation and might be demolished.
“Establishing cause of death is key in any fatal animal cruelty case,” says Scott Heiser, director of ALDF’s Criminal Justice Program. “We are more than happy to help the Dearborn Police Department with this critical part of their casework, as they seek justice for the hundreds of Chihuahuas who suffered so much—and the suffering of dogs who die of starvation and untreated disease in hoarding cases is truly horrific. By providing direct funding for forensic investigation of crimes against animals, we hope to ensure that attorneys have the evidence they need to put abusers in jail—while the surviving victims are allowed to heal from their trauma.”
ALDF was founded in 1979 with the unique mission of protecting the lives and advancing interests of animals through the legal system. For more information, please visit www.aldf.org.

Celebrity Chihuahua Heart-kun gets a younger brother who shares his heart-shaped marking
August 10, 2009 | 1:59 pmA few years back, a long-haired Chihuahua puppy became an international phenomenon due to a heart-shaped marking on his side. His owner and breeder, Emiko Sakurada of Odate in the Japanese prefecture of Akita, aptly named him Heart-kun, and his image graced a number of puppy-friendly websites like Cute Overload.
At the time, Sakurada, who says she’s bred more than 1,000 Chihuahua puppies, said she’d never seen one with markings like Heart-kun.
Until now. Last week, Heart-kun’s mother gave birth to a new litter of puppies, and one of the four tiny pups shares the unique heart-shaped coat marking. Sakurada has named the new puppy Love-kun, and, although she generally sells the puppies she breeds, she told the Daily Mail that she has no intention of parting with Heart-kun and Love-kun.
More photos of the new puppy alone, with his littermates and with his older brother after the jump!

Taco Bell Chihuahua Dies
By Rennie Dyball
Originally posted Wednesday July 22, 2009 11:40 AM EDT
She charmed millions without ever saying a word, and managed to make fast food tacos adorable. Gidget, the Chihuahua best known for her Taco Bell ad campaign, died from a stroke on Tuesday night at age 15.
“She made so many people happy,” says Gidget’s trainer, Sue Chipperton. PEOPLE met both Gidget and Sue at a Hollywood animals photo shoot in February, where the pup was a consummate pro and delighted the crew with her playful nature.
The mostly retired actor lived out her days lying in the sun – “I like to joke that it’s like looking after a plant,” says Chipperton – and entertaining at shoots when her trainer brought her along. “Gidget,” says Chipperton, “always knew where the camera was.”

Hampton was brought into the Greenville County Animal Control after being attacked by a large dog. He is a one year old male chihuahua mix. At first they thought his lungs were punctured but that turned out to not be the case. Because he has so many puncture wounds and broken ribs air is getting under his skin and when he breathes it escapes which gives the impression his lungs are punctured. That is the only good news with this sweet dog. He has been at the vet since the day this happened with 24 hour care. He is on a morphine drip for the pain, fluids and a ton of antibiotics. He has had a rough two days. We are hopeful he will turn around over the next couple of days. This is one sweet dog. With the pain he has had he has not tried to bite anyone at any time and he has been worked on a lot to clean the wounds. We did not send this around earlier because we weren’t sure he was going to make it. We feel better about his prognosis today. He is at North Greenville Veterinary Hospital and will be there for a while.
Please, help us help him by donating.

This is Caryn here, and I wanted to post about this little puppy that my neighbor asked me if I wanted. She said she had seen me walking my dog and thought I would be good with animals. Well I am, but four is our limit.
This little guy is named Max, is white and tan and is about 2 pounds right now. He’s 9 weeks old, has his first shots, and is not neutered yet. He is a Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix who will probably top the scales at about 10 lbs.
The owner adopted him but her granddaughter is afraid and she isn’t able to keep up with him, and I guess, house train him.
Please help me find a good home for this little guy-he’s so adorable and would be a great friend for someone. Contact me and I can get more information.
